Using equations and deductive reasoning in mathematics, we can understand that there are an infinite amount of prime numbers. Though we are ourselves finite beings, and we can never do each of the equations to find every individual prime number (it would take an infinite amount of time), we can definitively conclude there is an infinite amount of prime numbers, without question, and put the period at the end of the sentence, and know this as a fact. This tells us something about the wonder of the human mind, and the genius behind God’s design in how He made human beings.
In the same way we understand infinite concepts in math, while being finite and never able to do each individual equation, our finite nature means God is infinitely beyond us and past our understanding, yet our minds can grasp an understanding of the key points of the infinite attributes of God – the things essential to understanding Him and communing with Him and glorifying Him with our lives. And we can keep learning more and more about Him and understand Him in deeper and fuller ways through all of eternity, starting here on this earth. Yes, the finite person can hold relationship with the Infinite One!
Our brain is the little universe inside our skulls. In our brain there are corresponding neural pathways, circuitry, and neurotransmitter signaling for every concept and thing that exists in the outer world, including God and His infinite attributes. Our brain was given the perfect and right design to have the capabilities to study God’s creation, and to understand and commune with God. And knowing God is the deep and satisfying objective purpose of life.
